James L. Caldwell

Labette County Query: I am looking for information about my great-grandparents,

Abram & Rosaline Daniels. They were 30 years old in the 1870 census. They had 3

children listed on 1870 census, one of which was my paternal grandfather; John

Presley Daniels. He was adopted by the Caldwell's and the other two children by

other families when their parents died at or near the same time. I have never

been able to determine how they died or where they are buried in Labette County

and neither have my other relatives. Abram & Rosaline apparently owned property

at Wilsonton or Elston and I suspect they may have been layed to rest in a

church cemetary and markers have vanished. I do know that Abram was listed as 12

years old in the 1850 census of Parke County Indiana. Any help in locating their

burial site or other pertinent information would be greatly appreciated.

Bert Shaw

bert.gbs@worldnet.att.net Mon Jan 13 18:09:49 1997

Labette Co, (also Neosho and Montgomery Counties) I am looking for information

on the MAXWELL family, who I believe lived in Parsons, for a time around 1870 -

1880 or more, on Albert Brent, who lived in Galesburg (Neosho Co) for some time,

but moved to Parsons during 1883-1890, or thereabouts, on descendents of Baxter

Shaw (Neosho Co abt 1885-1900], about the family of Stanley Shaw, of Galesburg

1881-1981, and perhaps the Avis/Avise family, who I believe moved to the area

about the same time as the MAXWELL/BRENT/SHAW families. By the way...the BRENTs

and AVISs came from Carthage, IL, the SHAWs from Bremen, OH, and the MAXWELLs

from Pennsylvania, either directly or by way of Ill.
